Sherry Williams - Claims Clerk

The Key is Customer Service

Van Kam Freightways Ltd. is happy to celebrate the 40th work anniversary today of Sherry Williams!

As a Claims Clerk at our head office in Surrey, BC, Sherry’s primary duties in her role are to process claims.

Thankfully, Sherry’s job is made much easier with Van Kam’s industry-leading system-wide claims ratio of less than 0.39% annually! Despite this advantage, Sherry still looks forward to providing exceptional customer service at all times.

“I let them know they are in good hands”

“A big part of my job is interacting with customers and letting them know they are in good hands,” says Sherry. “The level of my customer service from my initial point of contact is a key factor in dictating the entire claim process experience for our customers. I’ve dealt with many different types of customers over the past 40 years, and it’s something I’ve always been proud of; I take much pride in it.”

Sherry is also quick to note one of her favourite aspects of the job: “At times I get to assist in coordinating donations to the local food bank, the SPCA, or designated women’s shelters. It’s an enjoyable and satisfying part of my job.”

A Green Thumb

In her free time, Sherry throws on a pair of gardening gloves and heads straight into her garden. “I enjoy gardening in my spare time. I find it very relaxing, especially during the warm summer months when the plants are in full bloom, and you can take in all their beauty. My favourites are hosta plants, magnolia trees, and nearly any sort of potted plants.”

Hostess with the Mostest

When Sherry’s not tending to her plants, she’s can often be seen tending to her guests at her dinner parties. “I like to hang out with my friends and family and cook up some delicious food for small dinner parties – – it’s my thing!”

“Any type of seafood dishes and pasta are right in my wheelhouse,” Sherry confirms. “I just hop online and search for recipes that I find interesting, and then it’s off to the kitchen to cook up a storm.”

Hey Sherry, don’t forget about your wonderful co-workers when you bring in those delicious left-overs for your lunch during the weekday!
