Road closures are mandated by the BC Ministry of Transportation and directly affect the delivery of all freight throughout Western Canada. As a result, all situations listed below are very fluid and Van Kam will continue to monitor situations daily and advise of any changes to our service as they may arise. WINTER ROAD CONDITIONS:

Apr. 2, 2024

Various highways and roads throughout BC & Alberta are subject to winter conditions and related closures that can happen anytime during winter and into early spring. Please note that we will only post about extended (longer than 24/48hrs) government-imposed road closures that may affect our delivery schedule. KICKING HORSE CANYON PROJECT (Trans-Canada Hwy):

Apr. 2, 2024

While the project is substantially complete, the road to final completion includes adding pavement, line painting, wildlife fencing and landscaping. This work will begin April 2, 2024. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction and posted at 50 km/h throughout the Phase 4 construction zone. Two-minute stoppages will be a regular daily occurrence, and daytime full closures of up to two hours are planned on three days in April and one day in May. For details, please consult the Highway Status Calendar and confirm with DriveBC.

Please note that road closures due to Kicking Horse Canyon Project construction apply only to the 4.8 kilometre construction zone in the canyon itself. The Trans-Canada Highway from Castle Junction to Lake Louise, Field and Beaverfoot will be OPEN even during overnight and multi-day extended closures.
