With Black History Month in February, Van Kam Freightways proudly announces our recent donation to two Canadian charity organizations: The Black Health Alliance, and Black Solidarity Fund by Unite for Change.
“At Van Kam, it’s important for us to give back to our communities and support causes that align with our Values,” says Lenore Henry, Co-Director of Charity and Donations at Van Kam. “As previous donators, we’re once again proud to support Black Health Alliance in 2023, and another new charity, the Black Solidarity Fund by Unite for Change. Both organizations are striving to drive positive change and combat anti-black racism in Canada,” she adds.
The Black Health Alliance is a community-led registered charity working to improve the health and well-being of Black communities in Canada. Their mission is to create a society where Black people in Canada can achieve optimal health and well-being, free from racism and discrimination.
“We believe in Black Health Alliance’s mission to improve the health and well-being of Black communities in Canada,” says Lenore. “For us, it is essential to support organizations working towards achieving health equity for all members of our society,” she adds.
The Black Solidarity Fund by Unite for Change includes more than 70 charities driving positive change, combating anti-black racism, and supporting the advancement of Black Canadians.
Van Kam’s charitable giving program focuses on supporting organizations that work towards improving the lives of those in need. This includes organizations that support education, health, social services, fine arts, environmental protection, animal welfare, youth programs, and other worthy causes that aim to create harmonious communities.
“As a BC family-owned and operated freight carrier since 1947, Van Kam has always given back to the communities we operate in,” says Lenore. “We’re proud to support charities like Black Health Alliance and Unite for Change, along with various other local, provincial and national organizations. These charities are working towards making a positive impact on the lives of those in need, and we’re happy to play a part in that,” she concludes.
As we celebrate Black History Month and the contributions of Black Canadians, we urge our community to support initiatives like Black Health Alliance and Black Solidarity Fund by Unite for Change. You can donate to their cause, volunteer your time, or educate yourself about the history of this special month and its significance in Canada. Together, we can create a more equitable and just society for everyone.
Happy Black History Month!
