Tree of Lights 2022

December 1, 2022

For another year, Van Kam Freightways Ltd. is pleased to partner with the United Way of Northern BC (UWNBC) for the annual United Way Tree of Lights in Prince George this holiday season. The United Way Tree of Lights is a long-standing holiday tradition in Prince George. With COVID nearly in the rear-view mirror, this year is bigger and better!

United More Than Ever

Every year this local community tradition sparks hope, joy, and happiness. “This year marks our 4th Tree of Lights campaign. We hope to unite the community by spreading happiness and optimism to everyone in Prince George,” says Arshpreet Kanda, Director of Business Systems at UWNBC. “Our target is to raise $85,000, which will support vital social service programming. It will help fill the gaps in the social service sector right here in Prince George,” she adds. With a worthy mission like this, Van Kam is once again happy to be one of the lead sponsors for another year.

Bring on the Tree

We should say this is not our first rodeo. Last year, UWNBC gave our Van Kam team in Prince George the opportunity to volunteer to decorate the 50ft. tree by stringing up the colourful tree lights. Needless to say, it was such a memorable experience that we couldn’t resist the chance to do it again this year!

“Last year, the Van Kam volunteers were fantastic, and we greatly appreciated their time, so we were happy to invite them again for this year’s campaign,” says Arshpreet. Representing Van Kam were Chris Hawley, Terminal Manager, and Tana Hogan. While sporting our official 75th Anniversary commemorative toques, the two braved the cold PG weather and happily participated in decorating the tree. “We both enjoyed decorating the tree with the rest of the UNWBC Tree of Lights team,” says Chris.

Joy to the World

Van Kam is always happy to support and spread joy in local communities where our employees live and where we operate our business. We partner with organizations doing impactful work, like the UWNBC, with campaigns that align with our Three Core Values, of which one is to “CARE” for our communities and its citizens. The Tree of Lights campaign mission is also directly associated with Van Kam’s Purpose Statement: To Unite Communities and Improve Lives.
