Phil Lacroix, A New Face in Northern BC

Van Kam is pleased to welcome Phil Lacroix as our newest Business Development Manager, covering Northern BC out of Smithers. Phil brings years of experience in freight sales and relationship building, and a clear sense of what it takes to show up for customers in a fast-moving industry.

People Over Everything

Phil’s career highlights don’t read like a résumé. They read like a list of people he’s shown up for. Over the years, he’s built a reputation as someone customers can count on, who understands what matters to them, and who finds solutions that make their jobs easier. “One of the biggest highlights has been getting to know clients and helping find solutions that make their jobs easier,” he says. “What I enjoy most is the people side of the business, building trust, creating long-term relationships, and helping customers succeed.”

Always in Motion

Day to day, Phil’s role is about staying connected across Northern BC. The territory covers a lot of ground, from Prince George and Quesnel up through Smithers, Burns Lake, Terrace, and beyond to Prince Rupert. That means getting out to see clients, solving problems as they arise, and making sure Van Kam delivers real value across the region. “No two days are the same,” he says, “which keeps things interesting.”

Built for This Industry

Phil didn’t land in the freight industry by accident. It’s the kind of work that keeps you on your toes, and that’s always suited him well. What drew him to Van Kam specifically was straightforward: a strong team, a solid reputation, and a territory worth building in. “The freight industry is fast-paced, always changing, and very relationship-driven,” he says. “That’s something I really enjoy.” When the opportunity to join Van Kam came up, it made sense.

The Views Don’t Hurt

Phil has settled into Smithers and is already making the most of what Northern BC has to offer. Moving to a new region comes with an adjustment period, but for Phil, the change of scenery has been more of a bonus than a challenge. He’s been getting out, exploring the area, spending time with family and friends, and soaking in everything the North has to offer. “It’s hard to argue with the views and the outdoors up here,” he says. It sounds like the move has suited him just fine.
