Gurbinder Chohan – 5 Years of Service

Congratulations to Gurbinder Chohan, aka Harry, for reaching his 5-year work milestone with Van Kam! Harry has been an integral part of our warehouse dock team since he joined in 2017 as a part-time worker, stripping and loading P&D (pickup & delivery) trailers. 

“I never expected to have the opportunity to work full-time at Van Kam, but after two years of working part-time and showing dedication and commitment to excellence, my supervisor offered me a full-time position,” says Harry. “I had another part-time job I was doing at the time, but I resigned from the other job immediately after I got offered the full-time job. I was ready to give it my best shot,” he recalls.

Ready for the Challenge

From the moment he started, Harry has continued to take on new challenges and initiatives, always striving to improve and make meaningful contributions to our team. One of the highlights of his career was when his supervisor gave him more responsibility by assigning him a more prominent line to handle. “It was a big challenge, but I was up for it. The line is one of the busiest at the dock, and during peak periods, we can strip and load 10-12 trailers daily,” explains Harry. “With the team’s help, we’ve been able to create a cohesive environment that makes our work efficient,” he adds.

The Support System

Harry cherishes the support of his loved ones and close friends. They are his constant source of strength and encouragement. “I couldn’t have made it through the year without the love and support of my friends and family. They have been there through the good times and the bad, and I am forever grateful to have them in my life,” he says humbly. We’re glad that Harry has such a robust support system at home, as Van Kam strongly promotes a satisfying work-life balance amongst all its employees.

Infectious Enthusiasm

As 2023 approaches, Harry extends his best wishes to his colleagues, our customers. “I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. Let’s make 2023 our best year yet!” he exclaims cheerfully. We’re grateful to have Harry as part of our team. We share his enthusiasm for the new year and all the possibilities it holds… with team members like him, we know it’ll be fantastic!
