What defined 2025 for us was the way our teams kept our customer service top-notch while supporting our customers and local businesses to keep their freight moving efficiently during a fickle Canadian economy. The work came from people who showed up early, stayed late, and kept things moving through both the busy stretches and the quieter moments. Their steady approach shaped the rhythm of the year and kept our service strong.
This year brought meaningful progress across our network. One of the clearest markers was our improved claims ratio, which dropped from 0.39 percent to 0.26 percent. It reflected the care our teams bring to handling freight at every stage and the pride they take in doing the job well.
We also welcomed Canada’s Chief Accessibility Officer, Stephanie Cadieux, along with the President and CEO of the BC Trucking Association, Dave Earle, to our Surrey terminal during a photo shoot of our fleet. Their visit highlighted the strength of our operations and our continued commitment to accessibility and industry leadership. Earlier in the year, our Safety Department received the Achievement of Excellence Award from SafetyDriven, recognizing our work in maintaining our COR certification and promoting safe practices.
We continued to look toward the future with the addition of a Zero Emissions truck through Gat Leedm. Bringing newer technology into our fleet was a small but meaningful step toward cleaner operations. These developments, combined with the daily work on the dock and on the road, shaped how our network performed throughout the year.

Our teams were at the center of many meaningful moments this year. One of the proudest moments was recognizing Owen Bach’s 45 years of service in our Kelowna operations. His steady approach and deep experience set the tone for many around him. We also marked 30 years for Bev Stewart, 25 years for Paul Mior, 10 years for Chris Jones and Dave Wicks, and Harpreet Kang marking 5 years as a P&D Owner Operator, among many others across the company.
Beyond anniversaries, our teams showed up for each other through the busy stretches of the year. People stepped into gaps, covered shifts, and supported one another in ways that kept freight moving and customers supported. It was a clear reflection of the culture that has shaped Van Kam for decades and continues to guide how we work today.

We stayed close to our communities this year through a range of programs and events. Our support for Dan’s Legacy continued, helping them reach youth who rely on their services. Early in the year, the LEGO Day Truck Giveaway brought excitement to families and kids in our region, and our ongoing partnership with Saints Hockey kept us connected to young athletes as they moved through their season.
We also remained committed to efforts that bring comfort and support to others. Our annual participation in the Hospital Activity Book for Children helped reach kids who spend long hours in hospitals. We stood behind Sleep Out Vancouver to support Covenant House as they raised awareness for vulnerable youth. Toward the end of the year, we joined families in Cloverdale for the Surrey Santa Parade of Lights before supporting the Cloverdale Christmas Hamper through donations and team volunteers.
As a BC family-owned company since 1947, we move into the new year with the same focus that carried us through 2025. Our teams, our operations, and our connection to the communities we serve remain at the center of our work. We step into 2026 ready to keep freight moving and to continue supporting the people and places that make our service meaningful.
