A Decade and a Half With RJ Panganiban

March 27, 2026

Raul (RJ) Panganiban has been in the freight industry long enough to know what good looks like. As a Pricing Analyst at Van Kam Freightways, he has spent 15 years building a career on precision, professionalism, and a work ethic that quietly opens doors. For RJ, the milestone is not just a number. It is proof that showing up with the right attitude takes you further than you think.

A Calculated Move

Before joining Van Kam, RJ was cutting his teeth at another trucking company, learning the ins and outs of freight pricing and sharpening his communication skills along the way. When a colleague nudged him to aim higher, he listened. “Someone told me bigger and better does exist, and to not limit myself to what was in front of me at the time,” he says. “Taking that chance took my career to the next level.” His personal life was also growing at the time, and Van Kam turned out to be the right place for all of it.

Always in the Driver’s Seat

Day to day, RJ builds rate packages, keeps communication tight between pricing and sales, and handles whatever comes up. It is detailed, fast-moving work. “Creating rate packages based on the information in front of me puts me in the driver’s seat,” he says. “Maneuvering through the obstacles and giving customers what they need, that is the end goal.” Fifteen years in, the work still keeps him sharp.

The Long Game Pays Off

Reaching this milestone means something to RJ beyond the years logged. “It shows me that integrity and work ethic can take you a long way,” he says. “Having professional morals and principles opens doors you did not expect.” He has also had a front-row seat to Van Kam navigating recessions, a pandemic, and consistent growth through it all. That kind of resilience sticks with you.

His Playlist Goes Hard

Away from work, RJ is a family man. His son, daughter, and wife are the center of everything. “They have shown me what the phrase heaven on earth actually means,” he says. But spend a few minutes with RJ, and you will also find out he is a serious music person. His playlist runs from Frank Sinatra and The Stylistics to Baby Keem and Don Toliver, all in the same sitting. His kids think he is cool. As far as RJ is concerned, that is the only review that counts.
