Position Details:

Van Kam is currently hiring a Driver Recruitment Manager located anywhere in BC, where we have a Van Kam terminal. This position reports to the Director of Linehaul.


Full cycle recruiting: reviewing applicants, prescreening, interviewing, onboarding etc.

  • Will work to bring on board drivers through selling the “Van Kam” brand, networking, and direct recruiting efforts
  • Learn and be able to present our current rates/ FSC subsidy, and other benefits to accurately explain pay structure
  • Have goals to hire for the spots available, as well as develop strategies to increase attraction
  • Ensure proper reporting and applicant tracking
  • Work with safety on testing and onboarding linehaul requirements, and work with HR to promote the positions and ensure proper hiring procedures
  • Gather data to ensure we are maintaining competitive advantage


Work in conjunction with the Director of Linehaul on the following:

  • to oversee all linehaul employees, this includes nonunion office staff and union drivers and owner operators
  • Work closely with all Regional Managers and Terminal Managers on issues pertaining to highway operation at their location
  • Review current trucking environment and develop strategy to attract and retain talent


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Transportation management experience required
  • Ability to travel and work on the road when required
  • Excellent knowledge of the geography of BC and Alberta
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Class 1 or extensive industry knowledge is an asset
  • Be motivated to hit hiring targets and sell the “Van Kam” experience
  • Be able to “Talk the Talk”
  • Be self-motivated and a team player
  • Union experience is an asset
  • Driver friendly/knowledgeable
